The City Police on Friday took the accused in the case related to the alleged assault on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials to the residence of the Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan as part of evidence collection. Seven CPI(M) workers, including former Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor I.P. Binu, were taken to the house as part of the third phase of evidence collection in the case.

The Museum police had earlier conducted a similar exercise on two occasions, during which the first batch of ten accused were taken from judicial custody to various locations linked to the incident.

On Friday, the court granted police custody of the remaining accused, numbered 11 to 17 in the case, for two days. They were taken to the road in front of the former Chief Minister’s residence near Bakery Junction, where the police reconstructed the sequence of events.

Later, Mr. Binu was taken about 50 metres away to the spot where the alleged confrontation had taken place. The custody of the accused will end at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
