The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the suspension of five police officials at Diamond Harbour and deployed 11 new police observers across the State even as the ruling Trinamool Congress leadership alleged a strongroom breach as allegations of non-functioning CCTV cameras emerged following the first phase polling in the Assembly election.

“The Commission directs that the following officers may be suspended forthwith and disciplinary proceedings be initiated for their serious misconduct and failure to maintain neutrality during West Bengal Legislative Elections 2026,” the order from the poll body read.
