The police have booked a Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activist who was accused of carrying a knife during the culmination of Kerala local body election campaign at Omassery in Kozhikode district. The case was registered at the Koduvally police station against Abdul Salam Moothedath, 35, based on a petition submitted by a group of United Democratic Front (UDF) activists from the area.
Police sources said a visual of the youth carrying the knife had been retrieved from various sources. They said the youth resorted to the act ignoring the warning from fellow workers.
A section of UDF workers alleged that the DYFI worker appeared on the spot to challenge his political rivals and threatened them to disperse from the campaign venue. He also ran towards some of the local campaigners of the UDF, they alleged.
