Minister for SC and ST Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar hit back at BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, stating that unemployed youth under the BRS government carried only examination hall tickets and woke up to paper leaks, whereas they carried appointment letters under the Congress government.
Mr. Laxman Kumar said the Congress government had provided 67,763 government jobs in the last two years and that recruitment for another 13,197 posts was in the final stages. “These are not claims but official government records,” he said, in response to Mr. Rama Rao’s comments at the Yuva Sangramam programme on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at the CLP office along with Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah Yadav and MLC Addanki Dayakar, the Minister alleged that the ‘Yuva Sangramam’ gathering was attended not by unemployed youth but by BRS leaders, party workers and ‘paid artists’.
Accusing the previous government of tarnishing the reputation of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), he said the present government had restored public confidence in the recruitment agency. He said the government had completed recruitment to 562 Group-I posts, 783 Group-II posts, 1,370 Group-III posts and 8,143 Group-IV posts, taking the total number of appointments made through TGPSC to 17,326.
The Minister said the government had also recruited 10,006 teachers through the Mega DSC and appointed 8,400 teachers in residential educational institutions. In the Police department, 16,067 youth had secured jobs, while recruitment to another 7,437 posts had been approved, he said.
He further stated that 8,822 appointments had been made in the Health department and that the Cabinet had approved recruitment to 643 posts in NIMS and 6,278 posts in TIMS hospitals. Recruitment was also under way in the Revenue, Power, Singareni, Health and Gurukul education departments, besides notifications for 15,982 Anganwadi posts.
Mr. Laxman Kumar said the government had increased the upper age limit for government job applicants from 34 to 44 years, providing significant relief to aspirants. “The Congress government does not stop with issuing notifications. It conducts examinations, declares results and hands over appointment letters,” he said.
