The Vadakara Special Court (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Act cases) on Thursday (August 20) granted police custody of former Perambra Block Resource Centre (BRC) teachers K. Kavya and V.P. Neeshma, two of the five accused in the Vadakara MDMA case, for further interrogation in the incident.
Special investigation team members said the two would remain in police custody until 4 p.m. on Friday (August 21). They had sought three days’ custody to quiz the accused together. K.C. Keerthana, the other accused teacher, had already been interrogated in police custody as part of efforts to track the other suspects in the drug traffickers’ gang.
According to the police, the three teachers were recently arrested and remanded in judicial custody for allegedly functioning as financial intermediaries for inter-State drug traffickers. Their role was uncovered following the arrest of Safwan, the first accused in the case, from Vadakara. Jijin Kuriakose, an online delivery worker from Iritty, accused of colluding with the rural drug network, was also arrested recently as part of the investigation.
