Drones and CCTV cameras will be deployed in Mysuru city to mount a vigil during the Dasara festival scheduled to be held between September 22 and October 2.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said the police will deploy drones to keep a watch on the movement of people at the venues of prominent Dasara programmes.
Apart from the 30,614 CCTV surveillance cameras installed by the general public falling under the Karnataka Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act 2017, the police will install about 200 additional CCTV cameras at the Mysuru palace, Bannimantap, and Dasara procession route.
Surprise checks will be conducted at lodges. Similiarly, the police will patrol the bus stands and railway stations in the city. Patrol vehicles will be rushed to places from where untoward incidents are reported, she said.
Rowdy parades had been conducted in the city and the rowdy-sheeters have been cautioned against indulging in any unlawful activities.
Ms. Latkar pointed out that the owners of old and dilapidated buildings along the Dasara procession route have been issued a notice at a specially convened meeting to ensure that the public is barred from watching the Jumbo Savari from those structures.
She cautioned the people against climbing precariously on the branches of trees along the procession route.
