The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) has questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, calling it a “breach of promise” as the latter had promised during the election to provide the ₹2,100 monthly financial assistance to all women.

As per the notification for the scheme, women above 23 years of age with family income not more than ₹1 lakh per annum are eligible for the monthly assistance.

As per the election data, more than 95 lakh women are registered as voters in Haryana.

JJP youth wing State president Digvijay Chautala said the BJP government has betrayed the women. He added that setting an income limit of ₹1 lakh was completely wrong.

He also asked if Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini would include women with annual income exceeding ₹1 lakh in the list of the rich. In such a case, millions of eligible women from poor families would be deprived of the various schemes, he said.

Mr. Chautala said the scheme showed how the BJP  lied to the women during the election and implemented the scheme “half-heartedly”.

The government had “considered” less than five lakh women eligible for this scheme, when more than 30 lakh poor women were entitled to the benefits, he said. He also demanded that the government extend the benefits to all the eligible women. The government should also simplify the documentation requirements to avail the scheme, he said.

As per the government notification, all those women receiving financial assistance under any of the Social Security Financial Assistance schemes are also not eligible for the assistance under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana.

‘To be given to all’

Rajiv Jaitly, the media adviser to the CM, told The Hindu that the scheme was started for the “more needy” women to begin with, and ₹5,000 crore has been allocated for it. He said the scheme would be gradually extended to “all women”

Marking the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Mr. Saini, at a State-level function held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula on September 25, had unveiled the ambitious ‘Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana’ with the launch of a dedicated mobile application to ensure its seamless implementation of the scheme.
