In a major operation, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted raids on an illegal drug manufacturing unit at Kondapalli Industrial Development Area (IDA) in NTR District on Friday (March 13, 2026).
The DRI sleuths confiscated 237 kgs of Alprazolam tablets, 800 kgs of raw materials, 2,860 kgs of various chemicals being used for manufacturing the drugs clandestinely.
Under ‘Operation White Hammer’, the DRI officials conducted searches on a private chemicals manufacturing factory, which was manufacturing Alprazolam tablets, which comes under psychotropic substance under NDPS Act, 1985.
Besides, a centrifuge, driers, reactors and other industrial equipment were seized in the unauthorised drugs manufacturing factory, the DRI officials said.
Investigation officers arrested Hyderabad-based senior chemist and his associate in the operation.
The DRI officers are trying to find out since how long the factory was under operation, who were purchasing the Alprazolam stocks from the illegal manufacturers and other details.
