The stray dog that had bit a theatre artiste during an awareness play on stray dog menace at Kandakkai, Mayyil in Kannur district of Kerala was found dead on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) evening.

The dog’s carcass was found near a library premises, sparking concern among local residents.

The dog bit artiste P. Radhakrishnan during a one act play Pekkolam, carrying a message against street dog attacks, staged at Kandakkaiparamba on Sunday night. Mr. Radhakrishnan sustained injuries to hands and legs.

The attack happened when a barking sound effect was played through the microphone, triggering the dog nearby.

Mistaking it for part of the act, the audience initially continued watching the play until organisers rushed to Mr. Radhakrishnan’s aid.

He was later admitted to the Kannur Government Medical College Hospital and underwent treatment.
