Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin hands over cheque to K. Veeramani for the establishment of Periyar Ulagam

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (October 18, 2025) met Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani at Periyar Thidal and handed over a cheque for ₹1,70,20,000 — which is one month’s salary of DMK MLAs and MPs — as a contribution towards the establishment of Periyar Ulagam, a theme park based on Periyar’s ideas, at Siruganur in Tiruchi.

In a post on X, Mr. Stalin said Periyar Ulagam is an effort to spread the teachings of Periyar, who tirelessly worked for Tamil society to attain rationalism and self-respect. “In the radiant light of Periyar, the great flame, the Tamil race will walk with their heads held high!,” he said.
