The police on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) stepped up road safety enforcement and visible policing initiatives across Sri Sathya Sai district. As part of the initiative, Deputy Superintendent of Police K.V. Mahesh, along with Hindupur Rural Circle Inspector Janardhan and Lepakshi Sub Inspector Narendra, conducted a special vehicle inspection and awareness programme at the Chowlasamudram Toll Plaza Road under Lepakshi police station limits.

Police teams highlighted the compulsory use of helmets and strict adherence to traffic regulations. Addressing the motorists, the Deputy SP said that road safety is a shared responsibility and explained the life-saving role of the helmets in preventing fatal head injuries. The police distributed helmets and administered a road-safety pledge to two-wheeler riders.

Simultaneously, a district-wide visible policing was carried out at major highways and junctions in Penukonda, Puttaparthi, Dharmavaram, and Hindupur sub-divisions. Officers checked driving licences, registration certificates, helmet and seat belt usage, and booked twelve motorists on charges of drunk driving.

Meanwhile, during road safety inspections in Puttaparthi, Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar urged the public to cooperate during inspections, carry valid documents at all times, and immediately report suspicious vehicles or persons to the police.
