The Belthangady police have registered a case against activist T. Jayanth for spreading false information about the externment of fellow activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody.
In the complaint, head constable A. Jagadeesh said though Mr. Jayanth knew the reason for the order passed by Puttur Assistant Commissioner to extern Thimarody, he presented incomplete information on YouTube and projected the externment as a conspiracy to derail the ‘Justice to Soujanya’ campaign with an intention to create unrest in society.
The police registered the complaint for offences under the BNS.
