The long pending demand of the retired workers of the State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for enhancement of the monthly pension to ₹10,000 has gathered momentum ahead of Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy’s two-day ‘Singareni Bharosa Yatra’ beginning on Monday.
Mr. Kishan Reddy, accompanied by BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao and other party leaders, is scheduled to tour Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mancherial, and Peddapalli districts on July 13 and 14. The yatra assumes significance in the wake of the Centre’s recent decision to allocate the Tadicherla-II coal block to the SCCL.
Meanwhile, Peddapalli MP G. Vamsi Krishna has renewed his appeal to the Union Minister to announce a monthly pension of ₹10,000 for the SCCL’s retired workers during his tour of the State’s coal belt. Mr. Vamsi Krishna has consistently raised the issues of the SCCL workers as well as the retired personnel both in Parliament and at public forums.
Referring to the reported allocation of the Tadicherla-II coal block to the SCCL, he urged the Centre to expedite all necessary approvals to facilitate the early launch of the project.
The Tadicherla Block-II project has the potential to substantially enhance the SCCL’s coal output and create significant employment opportunities for local youth.
