The Supreme Court on Tuesday (December 2, 2025) will resume hearing on the bail pleas filed by Umar Khalid and others accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the 2020 Delhi riots ‘larger conspiracy’ case

Meanwhile, earlier on November 21, 2025, the Delhi Police had vehemently objected to pleas claiming that they only cite the Constitution for the sake of getting bail.

In the previous hearing, Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju for the Delhi Police described how the violence unfolded during the 2020 Delhi riots, before a Bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justices Aravind Kumar and N.V. Anjaria on Friday (November 21, 2025). Citing statements from a protected witness, Mr. Raju said that conspirators planned violence, organised chakka jams to disrupt and “choke Assam out of India,” and further mobilised rioters armed with sticks, who engaged in heavy stone-pelting.
