The elections to seven Municipal Corporations and 116 Municipalities in Telangana are a fortnight away. A total of 52.43 lakh voters would elect Ward Members or Corporators of the Urban Local Bodies. This will be followed by election of Mayor or Chairperson and Deputy Mayor or Vice-Chairperson by the elected Ward Members and ex-officio members — including Legislators.
The number of female voters in the 2,996 Wards, which will go to the Polls on February 11, are 26.80 lakhs — which is more than 25.62 lakhs male voters.
After the polling, counting of votes will be taken up on February 13 and the results would be announced soon after the conclusion of counting.
The elected Ward Members will be administered oath to the posts at 11 a.m. on February 16. And at 12.30 p.m., a special meeting will be held to elect Mayors and Deputy Mayors of the seven Municipal Corporations and Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Municipalities.
Seven Corporations
The seven Municipal Corporations which will go for polls are Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Mancherial, Kothagudem and Nalgonda.
