Government-run Social Welfare, BC, SC, and ST Welfare, and Gurukul hostels in NTR district were closed, and students were sent home in the wake of cyclone Montha.

Following directions from Collector G. Lakshmisha, managements of all private and government educational institutions declared holidays from October 27 to 29. Parents received notifications on their mobile phones on Sunday.

Mr. Lakshmisha reviewed cyclone Montha preparedness with officials from Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, Municipal Commissioners, Revenue Divisional Offices, Civil Supplies, Roads and Buildings, AP Transco, and other departments.

Control rooms have been set up at the Collectorate (Phone: 91549 70454), Vijayawada Sub-Collector office (0866 2574454), Nandigama RDO office (78930 53534), and Tiruvuru RDO office (83098 36215, 0867325123).

The Collector directed officers to shift pregnant women and patients to nearby hospitals and remain in their assigned villages. Villagers were advised not to cross rivers or canals.

The public are urged not to stay under hoardings, trees, or electric poles. Revenue and other officials have been instructed to relocate people living in old or dilapidated houses.
