Several localities in Kadapa, including the low-lying areas prone to inundation during floods, remained relatively clean in the wake of Cyclone Montha, thanks to the preventive clearance work taken up a fortnight back.

Accompanied by Kadapa Municipal Corporation (KMC) staff, the TDP’s polit bureau member Reddeppagari Srinivasa Reddy visited low-lying areas like Apsara Circle, Buggavanka, Government Juvenile Home campus, and others.

The team was shocked to see that in an area which generally resembles a sea in the aftermath of heavy rains, the water was flowing clearly inside the drains, without spilling on to the road. It may be recalled that Mr. Srinivasa Reddy had directed the KMC officials, a fortnight ago, to desilt the drains and clear the encroachments that stand in the way of free flow of water.

”The efforts have paid off and we are witnessing a clear flow today. There is no sign of stagnation anywhere and I appreciate the Municipal Corporation authorities for the same,” Mr. Reddy said.
