Prof. Sheshanath Vishwanath Bhosale, UGC-Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Central University of Karnataka (CUK), Kalaburagi, has been named among the world’s top 2% scientists for 2025 in the field of Organic Chemistry, as listed by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Prof. Bhosale’s name has featured in the prestigious global ranking, which recognises scientists for their lifetime research impact based on key indicators, such as publications, citations, h-index, and composite scores.

The Central University of Karnataka described it as a “matter of great pride” that one of its faculty members continues to be recognised internationally for research excellence.

“It is a remarkable achievement that brings glory to the University and will motivate other researchers to aim high,” said CUK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Battu Satyanarayana, congratulating Prof. Bhosale. Registrar Prof. R. R. Biradar also extended his best wishes on the achievement.

Prof. Bhosale, who joined the School of Chemical Sciences at CUK in March 2023, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), a Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, and a Member of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences.

He obtained his Ph.D. from Freie University, Berlin, Germany, and completed post-doctoral research at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He subsequently worked at Monash University and RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, under prestigious Australian Research Council Fellowships, before serving as a UGC-FRP Professor at Goa University.

A prolific researcher, Prof. Bhosale has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers in leading international journals, garnering more than 10,000 citations and achieving an h-index of 45. He has also authored 15 book chapters, edited one volume, and supervised 15 Ph.D. scholars.

Prof. Bhosale serves on the editorial boards of reputed journals such as Nature Scientific Reports, ChemistryOpen (Wiley-VCH), and Aggregates (Wiley-VCH), besides several MDPI publications. He is also a reviewer for more than 50 international journals.

His research primarily focuses on the design and synthesis of small organic molecules with applications in nanomaterials, supramolecular chemistry, sensors, lipid chemistry, artificial photosynthesis, supercapacitors, and organic solar cells.
