CSIR–National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), through its Centre for Geothermal Energy Research, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Shri Ram Institute for Industrial Research (SRI), New Delhi, to advance collaborative geothermal energy exploration across the country.

The MoU was signed by CSIR-NGRI director Prakash Kumar and SRI director Mukul Das in the presence of senior scientists and officials from both institutions.

The agreement aims to foster joint research and development, including the design and implementation of pilot plants at promising geothermal sites nationwide, and to develop sustainable, indigenous technologies in the sector, according to a press release issued on Wednesday (March 18, 2026).
