Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has directed Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) officials to expedite the procurement of additional coaches, develop a common mobile ticketing application with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGRTC), and explore the introduction of daily, weekly and monthly travel passes for metro commuters.

Mr. Jaju, who chaired the Hyderabad Metro Rail Board of Directors meeting for the first time as HMR Chairman, issued the directions during a meeting held at the Telangana Secretariat on Friday.

Emphasising the need for seamless public transportation, he called for the implementation of a common mobility ticketing system across public transport services, including HMR and TGRTC. The proposed system would enable passengers to travel using a single ticket across multiple modes of transport, thereby improving commuter convenience.

The Chief Secretary also stressed the need to ensure that metro passengers are able to reach their destinations safely, comfortably and efficiently. The meeting reviewed the latest progress on the takeover of HMR Phase I, land acquisition and utility shifting works for Phase II, and the status of approvals required for the subsequent phase of the metro project.
