Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leader and the Left Democratic Front candidate in the Ernakulam Parliament constituency in the previous general election K.J. Shine has said that she will petition the Chief Minister, the State Women’s Commission, and the State Police Chief against the “attempts to defame her through social media” by alleged right-wing handles.

In a Facebook post on Thursday (September 18, 2025), Ms. Shine accused right-wing social media accounts of engaging in a defamatory campaign using her name and photograph. This, she said, was driven by the desperation of right-wing politics, plagued by internal discord and hence stood humbled before Kerala society.

“The politics of debauchery, decay, and cowardice aimed at destroying me politically and personally will be countered through political and legal means. How depraved are those who indulge in vile misinformation campaigns against women active in the public sphere. Such slander, circulated through social media, psychologically and socially affects not only the targeted individual but also her spouse, children, relatives, friends, and colleagues. I am confident that the broader society and the administration will intervene in a manner that affirms public service as a rightful domain for women as well,” she said in her post.
