CPI(M) Keralam State committee to directly address local organisational issues

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Keralam State secretary M.V. Govindan has said that the party State committee will directly intervene to sort out organisational issues being raised at the grassroots level.

He was addressing the media on the sidelines of the three-day extended State committee meeting of the CPI(M) in Kozhikode on Sunday (September 13, 2026). Mr. Govindan said that the district and area committees were facing different kinds of regional problems. Instead of entrusting the district committees to find a solution to them on their own, the State leadership was planning to step in to address them. In every three months or at least once in six months, the State committee would also examine if the corrective steps were being implemented properly.

Mr. Govindan said that there was a dire need to change the behaviour of a section of leaders, their conversational styles, and functioning. The party would also try to spread its influence in newly emerging social groups, he said.

The CPI(M) leader claimed that the extended meeting was organised to discuss the shortcomings pointed out in the review reports of the Central committee and the State committee on the debacle suffered by the CPI(M) in the Assembly polls in Keralam and to suggest corrective steps to energise the organisation.

Mr. Govindan said that communal and right-wing forces had been trying to gain a foothold in the State. It was the duty of the CPI(M) to arrest their possible growth, he said. Mr. Govindan also alleged that the attempt to implicate Leader of the Opposition and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan in corruption cases was another way to mount an attack on the party.
