CPI Central Control Commission chairman K. Narayana has demanded that the government ensure strict punishment of Ravi Kumar, the accused in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Parakamani corruption case.

Speaking at a press conference at the CPI office in Tirupati on Sunday, Mr. Narayana lamented that such corruption had taken place at a sacred place where crores of devotees offer money to Lord Venkateswara. Theft by an employee, who had been on duty for almost 30 years, was a serious matter, he said.

The CPI leader said, “After the case was registered, the accused Ravi Kumar had donated seven properties worth ₹14 crore to the TTD. This is like giving a bribe to the Lord. The irony is that a few gentlemen of the previous government tried to compromise and settle this issue.”

Assistant Vigilance and Security Officer of the TTD Y. Satish Kumar, who had lodged a complaint with the Tirumala One-Town police, was recently found dead on the railway tracks near Komali village in Anantapur district.

“The murder raises suspicions. It is gratifying that the court ordered a full-scale investigation into the case,” Mr. Narayana said, demanding punishment of the accused and the masterminds in the case without any leniency.
