A couple from Thatti Annaram in Nagole were found dead on Thursday, with early police enquiries pointing to severe and prolonged financial strain that had left them struggling for months.

An officer from Chaitanyapuri police station said that 45-year-old Mallesha and his 37-year-old wife Santoshi had reportedly been facing escalating debts that they were unable to manage despite regular repayments.

Investigators said the couple left home without informing relatives and consumed some unknown substance shortly afterwards.

“Santoshi died at the spot, while Mallesha was taken to Osmania General Hospital in a critical condition and later died during treatment,” said the officer. Based on a complaint from their son on Friday Chaitanyapuri Police booked a case.
