Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao strongly opposed the inclination of the Congress Government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to bring a “hate speech Bill on a par with the Karnataka government”.

He alleged that the Telangana government is trying to bring such a Bill only to “harass BJP workers and target the party”.

Mr. Rao accused the Congress leaders of indulging in hatred campaign by making ‘anti-sanatan’ remarks. “Is it not a hate speech when Mr. Revanth Reddy had commented on Hindu gods and said that Congress is Muslims and Muslims is Congress,” during the Jubilee Hills byelections, he questioned.

Talking to the media on Sunday, he said that BJP would oppose any such move by the Congress government.

He also said that BRS president and ex-CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, after a long time, coming out and getting involved in politics would not make any difference. It was like ‘OTP’, he quipped and said that the BRS has no credibility among people, as they have realised that “BRS leaders have involved in deep-neck corruption during its regime”.

Actress joins BJP

Earlier on Saturday, Mr. Rao said that, attracted by the good governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cine artistes are joining BJP with a desire to serve the nation. Addressing a gathering at the party office, after welcoming actress Aamani, along with makeup artist and Nandi Award winner Shobhalatha, into the party by draping them with the BJP scarf in the presence of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, he said that a “double-engine government” is essential for Telangana’s all-round development.

He highlighted that the party had won around 1,000 sarpanch posts, over 1,200 upa-sarpanch positions, and more than 10,000 ward member seats. Despite threats, these representatives remain committed to the BJP, which he said is a testament to the people’s faith in the party. “The results have proved critics wrong who claimed the BJP was confined to urban areas,” he added. General secretary N. Gautam Rao, vice president Jayashree, SC Morcha national secretary S. Kumar, chief spokesperson N.V. Subhash, and other leaders, were present.
