Amid raging speculations that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s recent meeting with some senior BJP leaders in Delhi over a likely coalition with the party in the state, Congress Party leader and MP K.C. Venugopal on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) refuted any such claims and asserted that INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) is rock-solid in Jharkhand.

“Spoke to Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Ji today. Let there be no doubts — our INDIA alliance in Jharkhand is rock solid, cohesive, and fully committed to advancing people centric welfare policies that reflect the aspirations of every citizen of Jharkhand”, Congress leader and party Mr. Venugopal said on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) in a post on social media. Mr. Venugopal also accused “right-wing troll networks of spreading malicious narrative and coordinated rumor-mongering”, driven by “growing desperation and political insecurity”.

“The malicious narrative and coordinated rumor mongering being propagated by right wing troll networks are but designs of their growing desperation and political insecurity. We are not affected by such deep trolling and they can never dilute the trust that the people have placed in us. Our unity is intact, our purpose is clear, and our alliance remains stringer than ever”, the Congress leader said in his post.

Earlier, speculation in the political circles of Jharkhand was that Mr. Soren and his wife, Kalpana Soren, had recently visited Delhi and met with some top BJP leaders and engaged in talks with the likely shift of power in the State.

The Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar also had a meeting with Union Home Minister, senior BJP leader Amit Shah in Delhi recently.

However, the BJP spokesperson in Patna, Ajay Alok, refuted any such claim, saying “the BJP doesn’t need any such arrangement”. Mr Alok also told media persons that he was not aware of Mr. Soren’s meeting with any top BJP leader “over such an issue”. Mr Alok’s recent post on social media had also fueled speculations that there could be a power shift likely in Jharkhand.

Out of the total 81-member state assembly in Jharkhand, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led by Mr. Soren, has 34 seats, allies Congress has 16, the Rashtriya Janata Dal has four, and the Left has two MLAs. The ruling INDIA bloc has the support of a total 56 legislators in the state assembly.

The buzz in the political circles of Jharkhand is that Mr. Soren “may be worried about pending Enforcement Directorate cases linked to corruption against him and he can be hoping for a better and cohesive relationship with the central government”, and so, he might be exploring some new political coalition in the state.

In the recently concluded Assembly elections in Bihar, the Congress party had got six seats out of 60 contested, and the JMM had drawna blank after contesting six seats.
