Condolences poured in for the demise of veteran actor and producer Nana Patekar on Thursday.

Andhra Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila among others condoled the demise of the actor, recalling his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema.

Mr. Naidu said that he was deeply saddened by the passing of Nana Patekar. “His remarkable performances and immense contribution to Indian cinema would be remembered for generations,” he posted on X, conveying his heartfelt condolences to the actor’s family, friends and countless admirers.

Mr. Lokesh recalled Nana Patekar’s contribution to Indian cinema. Patekar’s distinctive acting and memorable performances had earned him a special place among Indian film personalities, he said.

Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh described Patekar’s sudden demise as deeply painful. He said the actor, who had won acclaim for his performances in Hindi and several other languages, had rendered outstanding service to the film industry. The Padma Shri awardee’s death was an irreparable loss to Indian cinema, he said.

APCC president Y. S. Sharmila expressed her condolences to Patekar’s family, friends and admirers, recalling his outstanding contribution to the film industry and his memorable performances.

The Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation (APFDC) paid rich tributes to Nana Patekar and noted filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao at its board meeting held in Vijayawada on Thursday.

APFDC chairman P. Bharat Bhushan, Managing Director K. Viswanathan and board members garlanded the portraits of the two film personalities and recalled their contribution to Indian cinema.

They said Patekar had carved out a distinct identity through his powerful and versatile performances, portraying diverse characters with natural ease. Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, they said, had left an indelible mark on Telugu cinema by making innovative and experimental films and bringing recognition to Indian filmmaking with his creativity and directorial skills.
