Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (AP-Genco) P. Pulla Reddy has directed officials and the executing agency to ensure that the Polavaram Hydroelectric Power Project is completed strictly within the stipulated timeline, so that power generation can commence simultaneously with the completion of the Polavaram irrigation project.
During an inspection of the project site on Wednesday, Mr. Pulla Reddy stressed that the hydroelectric station must be fully ready for commissioning by the time the irrigation component becomes operational. He instructed the executing agency, Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), to adopt structured planning mechanisms and adhere rigorously to scheduled milestones.
“There should be no delays under any circumstances. I will personally monitor the project progress,” Mr. Pulla Reddy stated, emphasising accountability and time-bound execution. He directed officials to undertake daily monitoring of works and conduct periodic high-level reviews to ensure alignment with the approved construction schedule. Any bottlenecks arising during execution, he assured, would be resolved immediately upon being brought to his notice.
The inspection was attended by AP-Genco Thermal and Hydel Directors Sujay Kumar and Ashok Kumar Reddy; Chief Engineer (Civil) Ravindra Reddy; HPC Chief Engineer Visweswara Rao; Superintending Engineers Chandrasekhar and C. Hanuma, among other senior officials.
