Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation of families residing along the Musi riverbed and expedite land acquisition for the first phase of the ambitious Musi Riverfront Development Project through a combination of compensation and Transferable Development Rights (TDRs).

Reviewing the project, the Chief Minister discussed the progress of the project’s first phase with senior officials.

The meeting was attended by Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, MP Vem Narender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited Managing Director Narsimha Reddy and senior officials of the Municipal Administration department.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to allot double-bedroom houses to all eligible families currently living in the Musi riverbed as part of the rehabilitation programme.

On land acquisition, he directed officials to offer Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) to landowners willing to accept them or, alternatively, provide monetary compensation in accordance with government norms.

Mr. Revanth Reddy also directed that structures located on defence land proposed to be utilised for the Gandhi Sarovar project should be relocated by the State government to facilitate implementation without delays.

To improve public awareness and participation, the Chief Minister proposed the establishment of a Musi Experience Centre on Necklace Road. The centre will showcase the various components of the Musi Riverfront Development Project, including planned works and the long-term vision for river rejuvenation and urban redevelopment.

He further instructed officials to create mechanisms at the proposed centre to gather public feedback and suggestions on the project, stressing the importance of citizen participation in shaping one of Hyderabad’s largest urban renewal initiatives.
