The two-day ‘Desi Dal Mela’, organised jointly by Sahaja Samrudha, Sahaja Seeds, and the Department of Horticulture–Kisan Mall at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry in Mysuru, got off to an impressive start with visitors thronging the venue to glimpse the large varieties of pulses on display.

Inaugurating the mela, actor Akshatha Pandavapura said the real India can be seen at the Desi Dal Mela, as many pulses that we have forgotten are displayed here. “They are symbols of our local agri and food culture. Instead of consuming junk food, it is very important from a health perspective to use our traditional pulse-based foods. Pulses provide balanced nutrition and help conserve disappearing agricultural diversity,” she added.
