CM Naidu lauds Parvatipuram’s ‘Mustabu’ initiative

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu lauded the ‘Mustabu’ programme launched by Parvatipuram Collector N. Prabhakar Reddy to promote cleanliness and personal hygiene among schoolchildren, during the Collector’s conference held in Amaravati on Wednesday and Thursday. Mr. Naidu also announced that the initiatve would be implemented across all educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh covering 79 lakh students.

Mr. Naidu also asked Mr. Prabhakar Reddy to give presentation on the ‘Mustabu’ programme during the Collectors conference.

According to a release from the Parvatipuram Collector’s office, under the ‘Mustabu’ programme all school premises are given mirrors and combs. Beore coming to class, students have to check and groom themselves. To promote hygiene, towels and soaps have also been provided. Under the programme, nail cutters are supplied to all schools and students have to keep their nails clean and trimmed. Handwashing before lunch has been made compulsory. Student leaders monitor the programme and all students get an opportunity to become a monitor on rotation basis.

Mr. Prabhakar Reddy said: “Neatness and personal hygiene habits, clean environment in schools will make students responsible in all aspects. The programme is designed to develop leadership qualities among students. The Chief Minister’s recognition has enhanced our responsibility and motivated us to launch new schemes in the future.”
