Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) criticised the Maharashtra Police for allegedly sending notices to CJP workers. He said the workers were being pressured to stay away from the October 10 protest to be held at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Some party workers had been served notices in Rajasthan too, he claimed.

The notices allegedly issued by the Chandrapur Police are under Section 168 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS). As per copies of the notices perused by The Hindu, the party workers have been advised not to join the protest. Mr. Dipke showed two such notices issued to Mayur Malkhede from Ballarpur and Raj Jaykumar Badolo from Chandrapur.

“Why is the Maharashtra Police behaving like Delhi Police? What do they have to do with a person going to Delhi from Chandrapur?” Mr. Dipke asked.

Heart-breaking: Dipke

Praising the State police, he said that the Maharashtra Police were the best force in the country and that the Delhi Police should learn from them. “But it is heart-breaking that the Chandrapur police served notices to CJP workers, asking them not to participate in the protest at Jantar Mantar. They also asked CJP workers about the source of funds they were using to travel to Jantar Mantar. The police stated that the agitation is going to be ‘violent’. How do the police know so early that the agitation would be violent? Have they planned anything in advance?” he asked.

He further said, “Why is Devendra Fadnavis trying to be Yogi Adityanath 2.0? He should know about Maharashtra’s legacy. He should not disrespect and misuse the Maharashtra Police for his political ambitions. Instead of harassing our workers, they should arrest me… They should arrest and charge me under the UAPA and the NSA instead of harassing our workers.” In a lighter vein, he declared that he prefers a prison in Pune.

“‘One Nation, One Election’ is merely a slogan. The real objective is ‘one nation, one political party’,” he said.

The CJP has called for an agitation at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 to press for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the controversy surrounding the SIR. The party has called for criminal action against Mr. Kumar.
