Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday warned that the newly-appointed corporation commissioners and chief engineers would be held accountable for poor waste management in their respective jurisdictions.

“Garbage has been left unattended at several spots along the roads. Instructions have been issued to clear the waste immediately, failing which action will be taken against the commissioner and engineers concerned,” Mr. Siddaramaiah said before setting out on city rounds to inspect infrastructure works.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister came across construction debris that had been lying unattended for years, with weeds growing as tall as a person.

He pulled up officials for negligence and questioned them sharply. He found debris dumped at several other locations and directed officials to ensure immediate clearance and to install CCTV cameras to curb such illegal dumping.
