Chittoor district is gearing up for a tourism boost, with the officials planning to upgrade key destinations, restart stalled facilities, and attract private investment. The Chittoor District Tourism Council, which met here on Tuesday, reviewed tourism potential across six parliamentary constituencies, identified infrastructure gaps and investment opportunities at several locations.
Addressing the meeting, District Collector Sumit Kumar said that Puligundu and Ardhagiri temples were among the priority destinations. “Sanitation, drinking water, toilets, lighting and other visitor facilities will be improved there. Boating facilities at Bhumireddypalli tank near Chittoor will be revived, along with repairs to its children’s park and other amenities. At Gangineni tank, authorities will resolve pending issues and launch boating operations, while investors will be encouraged to develop boating facilities at Budithireddypalli tank,” he said.
An elephant camp, urban forest, and destination wedding centre have also been proposed at Musalimadugu in Palamaner mandal. The dispute-free government land near Moghili ghat and Kaigal waterfalls will be identified and land records prepared to facilitate investment, Mr. Sumit Kumar said.
“For sustainability and efficacy, we have planned to develop two or three destinations initially, using ₹20-30 lakh in funds, before expanding the initiatives,” he said.
