Chilly weather regains grip over Telangana; 6.3℃ recorded in Asifabad

After a brief rise in minimum temperatures at the beginning of the New Year, chilly weather regained its grip over Telangana as the lowest of 6.3℃ was recorded. A total of 11 districts recorded temperatures below 10℃.

A minimum of 12.6℃ was recorded in the State between January 2 and 3, 2026 mornings. According to latest data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), lowest of 6.3℃ was recorded in Tiryani of Kumaram Bheem Asifabad between Tuesday (January 6, 2026) and Wednesday mornings. This was followed by 7.4℃ in Bela of Adilabad and 7.6℃ in Kohir of Sangareddy. 

The urban districts too experienced the chill as the minimum temperature in Rangareddy was 7.9℃ (Moinabad), 9.6℃ in Uppal of Medchal Malkajgiri and 11.3℃ in Marredpally of Hyderabad.

The Minimum temperatures at isolated pocked of the State are likely to be below normal by 2℃ to 3℃ during the next two days, according to India Meteorological Department’s bulletin issued on Wednesday.
