The anti-narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch, in a week-long operation, arrested 24 persons in connection with the illegal sale of narcotic substances across various parts of the city and seized drugs worth ₹2.08 crore.

The arrests were made based on credible information about drug peddling activities within the limits of Kumaraswamy Layout, Hebbal, J.C. Nagar, Basavanagudi, Govindarajanagar, and Chamarajpet police stations.

Based on the inputs, police registered cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and conducted raids at multiple locations on different dates, leading to the arrest of the accused, including persons from outside the State.

During the operation, the police seized 1.23 kg of hydro ganja, 76 kg of ganja, 11.6 kg of charas, and 121 grams of MDMA. The total value of the seized narcotics is estimated at ₹2,08,00,000.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused procured the contraband from unidentified sources and were selling it to the general public, college students, and IT/BT professionals for financial gain.

Police said further investigation is under way to trace the supply network and identify other persons involved in the racket.
