The 114th edition of the Ayiroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindu Matha Parishad commenced on Sunday.

In his inaugural address, the seer said the people of India have been bound together under the single thread of Hindu culture since ancient times. He said that as India once again reclaims the pride of its past, it must also actively recognise the forces of division that exist.

”Thousands of years ago, a river flowing through Kerala was named the Bharathapuzha. The Pampa River, which flows further south, was also counted among the esteemed five sacred rivers. This, he said, is evidence that India’s people have long been united under the single thread of Hindu culture,” he said. Poojapura Radhakrishnan delivered the keynote address.

The event will feature several key sessions in the coming days. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will inaugurate he valedictory session on February 22. Higher Education Minister R. Bindu will inaugurate a meeting on women power, to be held on February 21.
