Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Civil Aviation R. Rammohan Naidu will participate as chief guest and distinguished guest respectively in the gold jubilee celebrations of Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education on January 7, announced academy president M. Rajaiah. The event will be held at P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science in Vijayawada.

Addressing media persons at the college in Vijayawada on Monday, Mr. Rajaiah recalled that the academy was founded in 1975 by 250 members to ensure accessible education to all children. Starting with P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Sciences and AG and SG Siddhartha Degree College of Arts and Science, the academy has now grown into 18 institutions, serving 28,000 students with a staff of 4,000, Mr. Rajaiah said.

In the five decades, the Siddhartha institutions have helped build the city as an educational hub, and also fetched the city the tag of the cultural capital by setting up the Siddhartha Kala Peetham in 1990, Mr. Rajaiah said, adding that many famous artistes have been invited to the city for musical and dance programmes at the college since its inception.

The academy office bearers, including secretary P. Lakshmana Rao and Joint Secretary N. Lalitha Prasad, said a series of events, including guest talks by academicians and scientists, medical and science exhibitions, sports, cultural and literary competitions were held across all Siddhartha institutions from March 7, 2025, to mark the golden jubilee year.

Eight donors who contributed the most to the development of the Siddhartha educational institutions will be felicitated during the main programme on Wednesday, they said. Academy vice-president V. Nagabhushan Rao was also present.
