Student organisations SFI, AISF, PDSU and AIFDS Telangana organised a Chalo Lok Bhavan protest in Hyderabad on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) demanding removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and expressing solidarity with the ongoing student movement at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The protest, which began at Khairatabad junction and headed towards Lok Bhavan, was stopped by the police before it could reach the venue. The organisations alleged that participants were forcibly detained and shifted to Asifnagar Police Station.

Addressing the media, leaders of the four organisations said the protest was part of a nationwide campaign highlighting concerns over the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, alleged examination irregularities, paper leaks, and the broader crisis in the education sector. They also expressed support for students and youth protesting in Delhi, and described the police action there as an attack on democratic rights.

Leaders from the organisations accused the centre of attempting to suppress student movements instead of addressing their concerns. They reiterated their demand for the immediate removal of Mr. Pradhan, holding him accountable for the failures in the education system.
