A pilot exercise to test a new mobile application developed for the 2027 Census is under way in J.P. Park ward under the North Corporation.
The house-listing process, scheduled to be completed across the country in 2026, began in select locations to assess the app’s accuracy, usability, and field-readiness.
J.P. Park is one of three sites chosen in Karnataka for the trial run. The exercise, being carried out under the supervision of Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, began on November 10 and will continue until November 30. A total of 83 enumerators, 16 supervisors, and one charge officer have been deployed for the ward-level operation.
Enumerators are visiting every household in their allotted blocks, collecting required details digitally and verifying entries. Senior officials, Assistant Directors Jeetendra Sharma and Aakash Devra from the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, visited the ward on Tuesday to review progress. They examined the methodology used, the functioning of the mobile app, and the coordination between field staff and residents.
