Case registered over fake claims about electoral rolls circulating on social media

Several social media users were booked by the Madhura Nagar police for circulation of false information about electoral rolls on social media.

The case follows a complaint by complaint was filed by Syed Yahiya Kamal, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer for the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency and Assistant Municipal Commissioner of Yousufguda Circle–19, GHMC.

According to the complaint, certain individuals were allegedly spreading fake posts claiming that some film actresses were listed in the electoral rolls with altered addresses, photographs, and invalid EPIC numbers.

Further investigation in the case is underway.

Election officials have urged the public not to believe or share unverified information concerning electoral rolls and have warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading false or misleading content that could influence the election process.
