The State Cabinet on Thursday approved relaxation in age eligibility criteria for candidates appearing for Karnataka Administrative Services exams to various posts. Sources said that the government has approved five years relaxation across all categories, who will be appearing for direct recruitments through all notifications till December 31, 2027.

Internal quota

Sources said that the decision was taken since public recruitment has been affected owing to several reasons, including over the issue of internal reservation for Scheduled Castes.

It is also learnt that the State Cabinet has approved allotment of land to 22 Dalit and Backward Classes mutts in Ravuttanahalli village in Bengaluru North taluk in Bengaluru Urban district. This follows an earlier announcement by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The Cabinet is also learnt to have approved ₹145.03 crore to purchase food kits worth ₹2,415 each to be distributed among 50,000 Scheduled Tribes families in eight districts under the nutritious food scheme.

New buses

It is also learnt that the Cabinet approved purchase of 50 buses to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and 150 buses to North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation at a cost of ₹247 crore.
