The driver of a cab carrying Block Education Officers (BEOs) of Mysuru district was killed in an accident on Mysuru-Bengaluru highway that also left all the five officials injured.

While the deceased has been identified as car driver Anand, a resident of Mysuru, the injured officials are BEO of Mysuru North Revanna, BEO of Mysuru Rural Prakash, BEO of Mysuru South Krishna, BEO of Nanjangud Mahesh and BEO of H.D. Kote Raju.

The five BEOs of Mysuru district were on their way in a hired car to attend a meeting in Bengaluru when it collided with a goods vehicle near Ramanagara on the Mysuru-Bengaluru highway.

Though a tyre burst is attributed to be the cause of the accident, police have booked a case and are investigating the matter.

Due to the impact of the collision, the BEOs were trapped inside the mangled car. The passing motorists and locals joined the efforts to extricate the officials and shift them to the hospitals.

While one official is undergoing treatment at MIMS in Mandya, four other officials have been admitted to private hospitals in Mysuru for treatment.
