A 38-year-old driver of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus was suspended in Tirupattur for talking over a mobile phone while driving the vehicle.
TNSTC officials said that the driver was identified as K. Shanmugam, a native of Krishnagiri. Initial inquiry revealed that the government bus was proceeding towards Tirupattur town from Ettipatti village in Krishnagiri district when commuters found the bus driver speaking over the phone.
A few commuters shot a video of the incident and shared it on social media and invited a public outcry. Based on an inquiry, a suspension order was issued by TNSTC to the driver. A strict warning was also issued to bus crew against such practices. A probe is under way.
