‘Politics is not permanent’: CM Siddaramaiah’s statement goes viral

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s cryptic remark that “Politics is not permanent” sparked political chatter on Tuesday (December 2, 2025).

The Chief Minister made this remark soon after the second round of the breakfast meeting at Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC chief D.K. Shivakumar’s residence.

During the interaction with Congress MLA Beluru Gopalakrishna at the entrance of the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister said, “Politics is not permanent,” setting off speculation about possible political shifts within the Congress camp and the ongoing power tussle and sharing of power between two top leaders in the government.

It is reported that Mr. Gopalakrishna, who was coming out along with Mr. Siddaramaiah after the meeting, asked him in jest, “How was the naati koli sambar, sir?” Immediately, the Chief Minister said, “Politics is not permanent. I don’t bother about anything. Is politics our father’s property? Whatever happens, let it happen.” Mr. Gopalakrishna later said that it was a humourous reply and was being taken out of context..

After the breakfast meeting, in a reply to a question on when Mr. Shivakumar will become the Chief Minister, Mr. Siddaramaiah was quick to reply, “When the high command takes a decision.”
