A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel died on the spot, and six of his colleagues sustained major injuries when their car hit a culvert on the national highway near Gorlagudem under Chintoor police limits in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border on Tuesday.

The deceased BSF personnel has been identified as Gourav Kumar Pandey from Uttar Pradesh.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, when the seven BSF jawans belonging to the 142 Battalion were travelling from their base camp in Khammam, Telangana, to their reporting camp at Balimela in Odisha. The group was travelling in a privately hired car.

In an official release, Chintoor Sub-Inspector P. Ramesh said; “The six BSF personnel who survived have been shifted to a private hospital in Bhadrachalam and they are out of danger.”

The body of Gourav Kumar Pandey is being kept at the Government Area Hospital in Chintoor and a case has been registered.
