Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao said that people across Telangana had now clearly realised “who is real and who is fake,” branding Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as the “real fake one” for betraying the people by failing to honour most of his pre-poll promises, barring a few.

Addressing over a dozen street-corner meetings in Sangareddy town on Sunday as part of the campaign for the municipal elections, Mr. Harish Rao said the stench from the Chief Minister’s mouth, in the form of vulgar and abusive language against political opponents, was worse than that of a gutter. Reacting to the Chief Minister’s remarks made at Bhupalapally, he asserted that the BRS would win every municipality in the combined Medak district.

He alleged that while the government had ₹40,000 crore available to pay contractors, it was claiming lack of funds to clear employees’ dues, including dearness allowance and other benefits, as well as welfare measures for the poor.

Mr. Harish Rao asked people whether they should vote for those who had cheated them or for former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), who, he said, had delivered on his promises. He said people must decide whether to trust those who merely made promises or those who actually fulfilled them.

He remarked that insulting KCR or making personal remarks against BRS leaders would not benefit the poor, and that only the fulfilment of promises would do so. He also cautioned people against what he termed false propaganda that funds would not be released if they did not vote for the Congress, stating that funds for municipalities (urban local bodies) were a right of the people and were allocated through the Finance Commission.
