A fresh bomb threat was reported at Cliff House, the official residence of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday (December 1, 2025).

Similar threat messages were also received by two branches of the South Indian Bank at Spencer Junction, near the Government Secretariat, and at Thampanoor in the capital city.

Following the alerts, police teams and the bomb squad have launched extensive checks at the Cliff House and the bank premises.

This marks the second time that the Cliff House has received such a threat in recent times. The e-mail received by the Chief Minister’s Office reportedly claimed that RDX explosives have been planted by a group involving LTTE and a Karachi-based Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) cell.

The State capital has witnessed numerous hoax bomb threats during the last year. In addition to the Cliff House, several other high-sensitive locations, including the Secretariat, Thiruvananthapuram international airport, KSRTC Central bus station at Thampanoor, Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station, Vizhinjam International Seaport, UAE Consulate and the District Collectorate have also witnessed similar threats.

Tight security

The latest bomb scare comes at a time when Thiruvananthapuram city has come under a tight security blanket on account of President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled arrival to attend the Indian Navy Day Operational Demonstration on December 3.
