The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has received authorisation from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), Southern Circle, to induct and operate new six-car CRRC trainsets equipped with Distance-to-Go (DTG) signalling on the Purple and Green Lines.

The approval will enable BMRCL to introduce four trainsets that are currently available into revenue service. The induction of the new trains is expected to improve train availability during peak hours and help ease congestion on the two corridors, according to BMRCL.

BMRCL said that four of the 21 trainsets ordered have so far been received. The remaining 17 trainsets are expected to be delivered regularly at the rate of two trainsets per month.
