Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) Vice-Principal and Head of Pathology and Blood Bank, B. Sridhar, on Saturday said that blood donation was one of the most generous gifts one could offer.

Speaking at a blood donation camp organised by VIT-A.P. University, in collaboration with Guntur GGH, on its campus as part of the 87th birthday celebrations of founder and Chancellor of VIT Group G. Viswanathan, Dr. Sridhar said it was inspiring to see a large turn-out of students contributing for a noble cause.

VIT-AP University in-charge Vice-Chancellor P. Arulmozhivarman said blood donation was a life-saving act, simple yet powerful way to make a direct impact. “On the special occasion of Mr. Viswanathan’s birthday, we are proud to continue his legacy of service to society,” he said.

Around 500 students, staff and faculty members participated in the camp and the organisers said the blood collected will be used to meet the demands of patients in need, particularly those undergoing surgery, trauma care, and other treatments at the GGH.

Registrar M. Jagadish Chandra, HDFC Bank deputy vice-president Indraganti Sarma, VIT-A.P. University deputy director of student welfare Khadeer Pasha, and others participated.
